Motorsport Games Inc. (NASDAQ: MSGM), a Miami based developer and publisher focused on racing simulation titles, has announced the full launch of Le Mans Ultimate for July 22, 2025. Developed by its Dutch subsidiary Studio 397, the game marks the latest milestone in a multi-year effort to solidify the company’s position in the motorsports gaming space.
Originally scheduled for release in late 2023, Le Mans Ultimate experienced multiple delays before switching to an Early Access model in February 2024. The game has remained PC exclusive, though Motorsport Games CEO Stephen Hood says console ports are under consideration with external studios potentially leading development.
The launch arrives at a pivotal moment for Motorsport Games, which has weathered substantial turbulence over the past two years. Following its $69 million IPO in 2021, the company aggressively expanded through acquisitions, including KartKraft and Studio 397 and secured licensing agreements with major motorsport brands including NASCAR, the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), and IndyCar.
However, by late 2023, many of those partnerships had unraveled. NASCAR terminated its license agreement and transferred development rights to iRacing. The BTCC and IndyCar deals were also canceled, citing missed deadlines and contractual breaches. In the wake of those losses, Motorsport Games laid off 40% of its workforce and faced widespread scrutiny over its operational stability.
Despite the setbacks, Motorsport Games has doubled down on its core sim racing IP. The April 2025 announcement of a $2.5 million investment from virtual reality hardware maker Pimax provided a financial lifeline. The company is also actively marketing its RaceControl platform, a multiplayer hub that supports its live events and community-driven competition.
Le Mans Ultimate has always been a passion project for Studio 397, and it’s become a symbol of our renewed focus. This isn’t just about launching a game, it is about proving we can deliver on ambitious, authentic motorsport experiences.
said Stephen Hood, Motorsport Games CEO.
Founded in 2018, Motorsport Games gained early momentum through its acquisition of 704Games and development of the NASCAR Heat franchise. It earned credibility during the COVID-19 pandemic with high-profile virtual racing events, including the award winning 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual, which reached more than 22 million viewers across platforms.
Looking ahead, Motorsport Games is positioning Le Mans Ultimate and its RaceControl ecosystem as the foundation of its future strategy.
Whether this relaunch signals a sustainable comeback or a final push remains to be seen, but for now, MSGM is back on the grid and hoping to stay there.
