Citrix Taps Chrome Enterprise Premium to Offer VPN-Free, Zero-Trust Access to Private Web Apps

Citrix, the long established name in secure remote access and now a business unit of Cloud Software Group, announced today the rollout of its first integration with Google’s Chrome Enterprise Premium. The move marks a strategic milestone in the companies’ deepening collaboration, aimed at simplifying secure access to private and legacy web apps without the cost and complexity of Virtual Private Networks (VPN) or traditional Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).

The new solution, available immediately as part of the Citrix Platform License, combines the Chrome Enterprise browser’s native security stack with Citrix Secure Private Access. The result: enterprises can deliver zero-trust access to internal web, SaaS, and legacy applications with a familiar Chrome interface, optimized for hybrid work and cloud-first strategies.

This integration with Google Chrome Enterprise allows us to continue delivering best-in-class service to our customers. We know security and cost pressures are top-of-mind for organizations, and we are committed to delivering solutions that help mitigate those hurdles.

said Sridhar Mullapudi, co-president at Citrix.

As enterprises shift away from legacy systems toward cloud native architectures, the partnership targets a clear pain point: balancing ease of access for remote workers with rising cybersecurity demands. Citrix’s Secure Private Access now leverages Chrome Enterprise Premium’s advanced data loss prevention (DLP), phishing and malware protection, and granular access controls, key pillars of modern zero-trust models.

Enterprises are in the midst of a major technology shift. The move to web-based apps offers a simple, secure approach to application access across devices. Our work with Citrix supports that evolution.

added Bryan Lee, VP of Chrome Enterprise GTM at Google.

Key advantages of the Citrix-Chrome integration include:

  • Cost Savings: Eliminates the overhead of VDI for internal web apps, bundling access and protection into one license.
  • Stronger Security: Marries Google’s browser native security with Citrix’s Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) for a VPN free solution.
  • User Simplicity: Provides one secure entry point via Chrome for all app types, while giving IT teams centralized policy control.

The partnership reflects a broader trend as security conscious organizations phase out hardware heavy solutions in favor of browser delivered, identity aware access frameworks.
